    Annie the storyteller

The world needs a little magic now,
and there's plenty in our stories.

I write for children and hope to inspire creative writing,
& the many other ways of storytelling.

I treasure traditional tales and those that are yet unwritten,
the stories of the here and now, and those about tomorrow.

    Regional Tales

Where are your favourite stories from?

We are also collecting traditional tales of all far flung regions, thinking about the music of regional language and voice.

Reference to a range of traditional tales has been shown to enhance psychological development and well-being, strengthening ancestral ties.

    • Brave Vasilisa and Baba Yaga
    • Sindbad the Sailor

Storytellers everywhere collect and treasure stories

to remember our yesterdays and build our tomorrows.

We look for lost stories, neglected or untold,

and piece them together and polish them up.

I have been developing a series of stories that model creative storytelling and provide a shared landscape of stories for us to discuss and develop together. We retell old stories and make up our own, thinking about all the ways of keeping these and passing them on.

We look at books and story props, drawings and films, and we think about music and drumming as means of conveying mood and atmosphere. We think about all the other ways in which we can treasure the many arts of storytelling.
